Every human being is unique, hence on humanity we find enough diversity. In some cases certain people who do not fit into the parameters established by the majority are discriminated against, but luckily today is less frequent that people discriminate elements such as their religion, gender, sexuality, among others.
These last two elements mentioned above, there are two categories which often are confused by people who fail to understand the difference between the two; We refer to the “labels” of transgender and transsexual.
People transgender does not feel identified with gender (male/female) that is supposed to them is because of their sex (male/female).
These people feel a disconnect between their internal concept of gender and gender roles that society sets. For example, someone born male may not feel a connection between sex and what society defines as “male” and display labeled “feminine” behavior.
On the other hand, when you have a strong feeling and belief that the sex with which was born is not which deserves, then is cataloged you how transsexual.
Usually, transgender people feel a deep desire to change their physical appearance to suit the characteristics of the sex that they assume that you deserve. Transgender people normally resort to hormone replacement therapies and surgical processes. It is important to know that sexual orientation is not usually relevant for transgenders and transsexuals, many of them can be heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, pansexual.
That is, that sexual identity is not linked to gender identity.
